Eastern held tests for faculty and staff last week. New students wore masks and socially distanced, both of which are now required practices on campus, as they lined up to be tested by Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System staff on Wednesday under canopies on the South Quad. The students were asked to complete online forms ahead of time and then went through check in stations. Their test specimens were collected by inserting a foam swab a small distance into each nostril. The swab then was rotated and kept in place for approximately 15 seconds in each nostril. Senior Ali Kirk of Braceville, a student ambassador at Eastern, said after her test Wednesday morning that she was pleased the test was not any more invasive than this. "People shouldn't be nervous because it's not that bad," said Kirk, who is an exercise science major. Kirk added that she and her parents appreciate Eastern is testing for COVID 19 before the semester starts. "It makes me feel better knowing that is available. "Davidson said any students who test positive will be isolated locally at first and then given the option of returning to their home county for quarantine. He said Eastern and the Coles County Health Department will reach out to those students' home health departments and healthcare providers.

Love how Inspire wants to fill in opportunities for the teens and adults with disabilities who after graduation from high school seem to have little opportunities available to them. The agricultural program is a wonderful opportunity as well as the equine therapy as it offers socialization and physical therapy. Inspire is small but they have touched the lives of so many already in a short period of time. So honored to be a part of Inspire with Melissa and the entire team. Glasgow construction firm City Building has recruited 60 new craft trade apprentices, helping to tackle the industrys skills gap and creating valuable job opportunities for young people across Glasgow. This years intake includes aspiring joiners, heating engineers, lift engineers, electricians, painters and decorators, plasterers and plumbers. City Building, which has been on a major drive to improve diversity across the business, confirmed that the new group includes a significant proportion of females, with young women accounting for 16% of the total. This figure represents a substantial increase compared with a recent survey, carried out by GenAnalytics, which found that 9% of City Building apprentices were female. City Buildings latest female apprentice recruitment rate is also more than five times greater than that achieved across the wider industry. According to the Education and Skills Funding Agency, just 3% of construction apprenticeships were taken up last year 2017 18 by women. The apprentices, who started in August, recently completed an intensive six week induction course as part of a transition into work. The course includes health and safety and lessons on choosing the healthiest lifestyle choices to keep them at work. They will be deployed to construction sites across the city this month for on the job training whilst continuing to attend regular classes at the organisations Queenslie Training College, an in house SVQ accredited educational facility. Cllr Allan Casey, chair, City Building, said: Id like to welcome all of our latest apprentices and wish them the very best as they start their career in construction here at City Building. We put a great deal of time and effort into training our apprentices and we are proud that we have one of the best qualification rates in the industry, with around 94% of our apprentices becoming time served compared with an industry average of 75%.
